"When I was looking for a wedding dress, I was once told, "don't worry too much about your dress, you'll know when you find it." I did not know what that meant until I experienced it myself. Once I tried on the Amsale dress, my mom and I became teary-eyed. Without saying a word to each other my mom and I just knew—it was perfect.

On my wedding day, we rushed out of my house as a deluge of rain came down. Everyone at my house was feeling bad for me, but I was as jovial as can be. When I arrived at the church my sister was apologetic when she told me that she forgot my rings. I remember taking her hands in mine and telling her, "Miriam don't worry about it, I'm still going to get married with or without those rings." Then, as my Dad handed me over to Felipe, my Dad tripped over my veil and almost fell. It would have mortified any other bride, but I just laughed. It was so my Dad!!! I love him, and I was loving the moment!!!! Nothing and no one could take my smile away that day. I felt radiant and beautiful in my dress.

I have one advice to future brides: things may go wrong on your wedding day that are beyond your control; however, when you feel beautiful and focus on the fact that you are marrying the man of your dreams, the other things become insignificant.

In lieu of our own rings, Felipe and I used our parent's wedding bands. Before we left on our honeymoon, my childhood priest, Msgr. Kevin Sullivan who officiated the ceremony, was able to bless our own rings. It turned out magnificently!!!

Felipe and I just celebrated our Anniversary, and I love reliving the stories of my wedding day with my family and close friends. It was by far the happiest day of my life."
