Lauren Millard

My husband and I were married on May 4, 2007 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The moments leading up to the wedding were incredible and our wedding day was something we will never forget.

As a little girl, I always dreamed of my wedding day—marrying the man of my dreams in the most beautiful gown. I would look at bridal magazines for fun when I was young, and would always pick out my “dream dress.” So, when my husband proposed… my dream of planning my wedding became reality! Magazines cluttered every square inch of our condo, but one stood out from the rest. On the cover of Brides magazine was this absolutely stunning gown. As soon as my mom and I saw it, we knew it was my dress. My mom and I casually went out to start “looking” at gowns one day at Bridal & Formal in Cincinnati, Ohio. When I walked into the salon, this was the first dress I saw and the very first dress I tried on. I cried when I looked in the mirror, and when I saw the tears in my mom’s eyes, I knew this was it. This dress was made for me. I felt so beautiful and I knew that I had to walk down the aisle wearing it.

I carried a stunningly simple bouquet of calla-lillies and wore gorgeous jewelry that complimented the details of the dress perfectly. My husband gave me a simple, drop pearl necklace to wear that day. The finishing touch was an elegant tiara that completed the look. When I looked in the mirror, I felt the excitement I felt when I was a little girl looking at magazines. Except, now I was the bride and it was my day. This was the moment I had always dreamed of.

The church music was playing, family and friends were filling the pews, and the wedding party had begun their entrance into the cathedral. The church doors shut just after the flower girl and ring bearer made their appearance and it was almost time for me to make my entrance. My dad smiled at me, kissed me on the cheek and told me how beautiful I was. As the church doors opened again, everyone stood as I made my entrance. All eyes were on me, in this gorgeous gown, and my eyes were on my groom. At that very moment, I felt more beautiful than I ever have. It is a moment that I will forever cherish and a feeling that I have felt ever since.

It was my day, and it was perfect. Thank you, Amsale, for giving me my dream gown and truly making me feel like a princess.
