Julio and I met thanks to a very persistent friend who suggested that I try online dating. Reluctantly I did, not expect much. But on our first date on a cold November day in 2006 I knew that this was special and different. It was a date at a flower market, a place that he suggested. Here in England it was Guy Fawkes night, an occasion where fireworks fill the sky. Since then we were inseparable and in May 2008, while on a weekend in Paris, walking through another flower market he took me to a small quiet café where we sat down for a break. Unbeknown to me he started talking, and talking, until he pulled out a box with a ring that he'd chosen. At this point the waitress decided to ask for the cheque, not that either of us had noticed.
Two months later we flew from London to New York for 10-day break in Greenwich Village. While we were there I wanted to look for a wedding dress, something unique and that you could not find back home in England. After visiting Kleinfeld in Manhattan I chose a couple, then one, then changed my mind. Then I chose another and brought it back to London, only to change my mind again. The staff at Kleinfeld were very understanding and helpful and it was then that I saw my beautiful Amsale wedding dress. It was ironic that I met my husband through online dating only also to find my wedding dress on the Kleinfeld website.
The dress looked amazing, perfect. Both my mother and sister fell in love with it straight away. It was flattering and simple in design, made with the most amazing silk taffeta.
The dress arrived in October 2008, giving me enough time to have it altered by a fantastic seamstress that works for Liberty, a great London store.
It was a perfect fit and on the 27th December I walked down the aisle at this beautiful and unique church that dated back to 1258. My husband was waiting there and I could see how his eyes were not just on me, but the Amsale dress that made feel like the most beautiful bride.
